80's Rallye Replica
« on: November 29, 2013, 09:38:12 pm »
Not exactly VMX, sorry, but I'm looking for one of those silly Dakar Replica bikes they made in the 80's.
Transalp, Tenere, etc etc
Don't mind if it needs some tidying up, but it must be rideable now.
I'm in SA but happy to travel as far as Melbourne for one.
Budget is around $2k.
If anyone has one or knows of one I'd appreciate a pm or email.
Thanks

Yeah, that one looks like would do fine. But I've been sending him pm's for a while now and get no replies, so I thought I'd widen the search.

Ah ok, I've sent him a message too. I'll let you know if I have any luck, gimme a shout if there's anything around my area and surrounds to be inspected/picked up.  :)

Nah, nothing yet and I reckon Tatey's is a bargain.
It's in mint condition and low kms.
But..... by the time I pay for transport, rego inspections, transfer etc etc. it might end up being more than I want to spend.
The point of it is a bit of a stop gap until I can get the 750 just like I want it.
Buggered if I know what to do........

Not quite rally replica, but there are two XT600s on Gumtree in Victoria within your price range:

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/longwood/motorcycles/yamaha-xt-600-road-trailer-7-88/1032864415

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/morwell/motorcycles/1984-xt-600-has-37446-kms-learner-approved/1030350119

I'm tempted to get the blue one myself!

I've been getting bikes delivered to my door from qld for $250, if that makes the prospect better for ya let me know and I'll pass on the details. One of them with super low k's and in top nick is rarity for sure, I reckon you'll not be able to stop ya self in the end  ;D ;). Oh and why all the worry about all rego crap, in just 30 days that bike is eligible for Vic club permit reg!!!  ;)

I keep teasing the bugger....LOL.....it is a pretty neat bike.....I fell in love with it when I saw it....wasn't even looking for one put couldn't pass it up, I  have only ridden it around the back yard a few times but I wont be able to ride it until I get my hip replacement and give that time to heal 100%....Tony's a good bloke and I know that's his fortay big adventure bikes.....the bugger came 3rd outright in the Safari  on a Husky years ago, it would be going to a good home and when I heal I'll look for another one.

Went and looked at a Dominator this morning at just a little less than Tatey's asking for his DR, but it was local and had rego.
What a waste of time! Puddle of oil under it, the throttle was disassembled as they tried to make it work. They out and out lied about the fuel capacity and the father and son team couldn't get their stories straight.
A warning sign should have been the "on-off, special" they made out of a PE 175 and RT1 engine and the story of how his FJ1100 wheelstands in every gear!!!!!  :o
If only they knew how stupid they make themselves look..........
