VB360 tailpipe dimensions
« on: June 05, 2008, 05:57:47 pm »
I've got a beautiful unmarked original pipe for my VB360 (probably the best looking VMX model on the planet), but no tailpipe.  The one with a perforated/wrapped internal pipe and a stubby external tailpipe about 100mm long.  Chances of picking one up appear dismal, so I may have to make one.  Anyone out there able to measure up theirs and pass the dimensions on to me?  It's probably the same as the 250.
I need
internal diameter of the pipe
Perforated length inside the chamber (total length if perforations are shorter)
external length

Of course if you have an old beaten-up one not being used, even if I could borrow it to duplicate.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I don't think I've seen two VB360 with the same pipe/muffler.

Here's a page from the manual albeit VB250. Name your part.

The 77' VB did not use a secondary muffler.  The 78' model did.
77' VB scan.

Thanks Jared, that makes sense of things  ;) :).

The 77 model as shown on the parts list 7360-22801 is the right one.  The chamber ID is 50mm.

The only problem I had with the 77' model exhaust is that
it heated up the area by the seat and made the seat cover
come unglued from the base.  Also, no problem knowing when
the silencer section was burned out!

You're right, there isn't much room there.  Not a worry yet, I haven't been able to find a seat yet, that's next on the list.
I'm sure I saw a 77 VB360 on line which still had the short type tail pipe, but it had a right angle bend bringing it out just behind the shock reservoir, nowhere as long as the 78 - probably cooked the oil, but may have cooled the seat.
