Not bloody happy #2

Well after a year and lots of help from Yamaico , Dirtrumpy , Geoff , Firko , and a few others whom moved the bare frame around the country . I started the assembly today just to fit and make sure every thing was there .



Ive wanted one of these since 1972 when I looked at one in the Yamaha dealer in ACT . I bought the tank of a OZVMX member 4 years ago then a piece of crap from Vintage extreme imports . then the hard bit (got to love the internet what did we do before ) all the little bits , just cables , chain , shift leaver , to go now .

Too cool for school Iain......It was a pleasure being a (minor) part in the chain and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product in Port Augusta. They're definitely pretty little things aren't they?

The shocks are from Wasp they were a clubman set he asked me to see how they went when used by a wobbler I have a top quality Alloy pair to go on once the frame is painted and all the small bits are done eg wheels polished and respoked new tyres , along way to go yet . Iain

Jerry, I would like it, I can Swap, What is the best way to get two Pack Paint off a tank, sand basting be the way to remove it all. Iain Your yam is starting to take shape, My frame will be getting
repaired soon.

Sure are pretty Iain.....I think one of them may end up in the collection......to think in 1975 when I started work for Whites Yamaha we where wrecking them already...once those YZ B's turned up , nobody wanted a short travel bike.

Looking good Iain. Now the hard yards start with all the painting and polishing you want to do. Your effort will be all the worthwhile once she's all done and looking schmick. The Yammie is a good looking jigger. One of the best from the era I reckon.

Dave, why totally strip the paint off the tank? If it's still in good nick, just sand it back with 320, apply 1k primer and then colour within 20 minutes of each other. Or, wait for the primer to dry, sand with 400 then add your colour. If you really need to strip the tank, paint stripper and a wire brush do wonders. Be sure to thoroughly wash the tank in soapy water before you start prepping for paint.

Cheers TBM, The tank has been filled on the left side,  I would say at some stage the knee has made a dent, so the dent will need to pull out first.

And I had a re tidy of the shed to even find half of the bits , normal look is like a small explosive has gone off . The bane of the hoarder not enough room a double shed and even renting another 9 x 6 . time for a few garden sheds . It was good when I lived in Sydney I stored them at Nabiac . since Ive moved to Tassie they have breed and every time I go out to the shed there are more honestly they just follow me home .    Iain's home for old unloved Yamahas .
