Look at the bidding history for the 1st sale.  Mainly 2 bidders (him or mates?) slowly upping the price.

If you wanted that bike you'd use a snipper (I would anyway) and in the last few seconds it would bid and hopefully win.  If you were serious I think you'd do that also.  It didnt happen.

If the 1st buyer didnt complete, offer it to the second one...?  You have to go to less than half the price to find anyone else bidding.

When you go down the list other bidders (genuine ones one asumes) slow up at about $6000.

Doesnt look good on him or the bike.  (that's how I see it anyway ~ I dont know him and I am sure is a wondeful chap, I am just saying it doesnt look quite right....)

I dont get what you blokes are inferring, so the "winner" pulls out of sale, you wouldnt put it back on?  This guy by all reports, by some reports on here AND some digging i did myself in relation to  a Maico he had selling (and NO i didnt win it) seems more than legit, surely you would extend him the benefit of any doubt???

Me, i'd put it up again after having messaged the next higher bidder and they didnt want it, its not called an auction for no reason.....cheesh.....

I assumed a fishing expedition with a very high reserve just to hold the value up on HL's (he has two).  Let's see what happens this time.  It looks like 5 or 6 people are bidding now.

13.7 is a strong dollar on the bike in my humble opinion. Fishy maybe....sure doesn't look good either way IMHO.....more power to him....I couldn't buy it on my best day so..

They never reach the same amount second time around, I've watched many bikes auctioned for the second and third time and the first is always the highest.. I guess people lose interest when they miss out the first time.

I think you're right Davey, or I must be missing something here. This bike has a readily available replica frame and swingarm, standard (albeit rebuilt) Yamaha motor, Yamaha forks. The Ohlins would be pricey, admittedly, but I'm pretty sure that just about anybody could build this bike for well under 13K, or have I spent too much time building bikes out of old leftovers that's put me right out of touch?

The sum of the parts will be cheaper than the going price but it depends what price you put on your labour.

I have had a few calls over the years from people wanting to buy complete ‘turnkey’ bikes but I don’t have the time to build them although if I did I’m sure I would get bagged for trying to charge for my labour.

I think he is outer touch Yamaico, a replica of a HL500 is never going to be worth more than a YZ360A and I would have thought  a 490 Maico. Stuff in America is always way cheaper than here and you would never get 13k for one here....I think that price is probably what a genuine HL is worth.
