VR flat track motors
« on: October 25, 2013, 02:29:48 pm »
One of the Montesa VR motors I have for my VR project does not have a kick starter shaft and the guide for it in the ignition cover has been removed.  Is this something that was done on flat track or road race motors?  I was thinking flat track because the shifter shaft is on the right side.  ????

That's a possibility Jay, but while I've seen Bultaco Astro and OSSA Stiletto and DMR's out of Spain, I've never seen a Montesa short tracker.......What are you doing with it? For sale?

Could be either a flat track or roadrace mod. I remember seeing Dave Aldana in the Astrodome on a Montesa short tracker. I even have a bulletin from the factory giving some porting specs
to make the VR more suitable for short track. There is a racer from California, Tom Horton that has a VR motor in a Champion frame that is very competitive.

The motor will be for sale.  I popped the head off and I can see it was seized.  I'll pull the cylinder off to see if it is ported also.
