looks like maybe CT forks [leading axle], hope he's used the ct yokes or geometry will be all up the creek, mind you, i was hopeless at geometry at school so what would i know!!. does look like proper yokes for the forks but SL guard & hope the wheel doesn't hook rear section on landing from a big jump. [or did xl125's have 'leading' so is 'it' an xl mixture] ok. stop being picky--i assembled these new & thought they were just great bikes.

Yep but don't expect to be at the pointy end. That doesn't really matter though does it? These are brilliant little FUN bikes with a big personality. It'd be a brilliant pit bike or if you're that way inclined, spend a kings ransom on Yoshimura and Powroll bits and you might have a mid pack 'something different'. Jonesy's stage 3 Yoshi/Powroll stroker SL155 Rickman, Ugly Betty, absolutely hoots but it's doubtful it's any quicker than a stock Elsinore..

Yes, I too had heaps of these as a youngen. I built several as an introduction to two wheel mania for my little brothers etc.
You can achieve a nice close ratio outcome by mixing and matching the tranny clusters from sl/cl/cb 100's.
There is a hell of a lot you can achieve by openning/ enlarging the air/carby/inlet supply/ports/megaphone exhaust etc.
If you want step out of 125 class, just drop in a xl/ct185 crank = 153cc, for fun.
Don't get caught with a two piece head in pre-75 though.
I am pretty sure that leading axle CR125 fork sliders share the same part# as the latter CT's.
I doubt I will ever get around to it, but I always wanted to introduce a certain camshaft onto needle rollers.
open its breathing and lower its reciprocating top end mass with some lighter titanium valves, springs and caps etc.
Me thinks I better calm down, before I join the list of bidders ::)

Yes Firko, you would have to get busy before you could match the outcome of a standard CR125M.

Hmmm interesting, if I had any space in the garage I'd give it a crack.  We use to give them the nickname of 'Turtle' when we were kids.  My Brother-in-Law (Lynton McPhail) use to race a TM125 with an SL engine fitted running on methanol ..... at least it smelled nice  :-)

This little Zundapp Metisse has the Yoshi stage 3 kit that includes a genuine Yoshimura cast head, drastically lightened Powroll crank and Krober ignition and 34mm Amal on methanol. AJ's dad built the engine to go into an Elsinore frame for Alan back in the 70's. Jonesy's actually got two of these engines, the other being closer to 200cc but it's not as fast as the 155. This is a sweet use of an SL125 motor.

Firko  I happily picked up a Rickman Zundapp bare frame and swing arm today, 3/72 build . Has had some extra gusseting added up near head stem and the engine mountings removed ( looks like a neat heat bronzing and remove job ,good!). Going to attempt the challenge to build an SL125 Rickonda for under $500. Cheers Tim754

Yep your old TS250 Cheapy challenge still gets me in. Now $350 left.... Hmmm have plenty... engines, expipes, steel early Honda wheels.
So that leaves Tank. Seat, Body panels and a heap more.  Bloody hell front forks and triple needed!!! Bye of to start digging in the terror pits. ;)
