I'm not sure I like the idea of riding a KTM with different stickers. But I've only got one eye.

You'll eventually get used to it just like everyone got used to riding rebadged Cagivas 25 years ago..

The "linkage "on KTM's was part of when Stefan Everts came over to run/design the next generation KTM MX bikes.....that's also why the rear guard is so long....Yamaha wouldn't let Stefan design anything....how stupid was Yamaha?

It is really great how there is nothing really new in marketing.

The Freeride is a great bike and concept just like the Bully Alpine, Monty Cota T and what was the Ossa equivalent? from the early 70s through to early '80s. Built off trials bike basics with larger fuel capacity, slightly larger seat, slightly wider ratio gears etc giving a great trail bike with a trials bike slant.

That "Linkage" looks EXACTLY the same as the one fitted to the 87/88 WR 400 Husky in my shed.

This is just my opinion, but in the bush when the going gets tough, you want to be on a European bike although it may well be different in MX. European enduro bikes are built for wet, shitty snot with power delivery to suit, coz that's what they ride in most of the time. Jap enduro bikes are built for the Americans who ride in totally different conditions. With KTM being the bench mark in enduro bikes, the "new" Huskies can only be a good thing. I'd have one in a pinch.

Actually Warren Willing design the linkage for KTM when the moto GP team folded and he had little on but still contracted to KTM for the year. Stefan merely turn up when testing had started and confirmed what Warren had told them.

US east coast enduros are pretty tough. And snotty and muddy....

Linkage rears are far more tolerant of poor setup than PDS. A properly sorted PDS is as good as a properly sorted linkage rear - but the performance of the PDS falls away more dramatically when the set-up is compromised.
Where a well set up linkage rear will still work very well with a rider 5kg heavier or lighter than the optimum, PDS starts getting uncooperative.

The other thing is that once you've got the telescopic needle, bladder, etc etc, a lot of the PDS' benefits (simplicity/ease of manufacture/etc) are minimised.
