Pre-75 125 race bike semi-project.
« on: September 30, 2013, 08:17:27 am »
Deposit received.

DT125A based Pre-75 racer. Built from a matching numbers bike on the original piston.
Bike was raced regularly in 2007 and 08, including the Coffs Harbour Nationals, until the original big end got rattly (did not blow up!) - I rebuilt the bottom end with a new rod kit but never got around to putting the bike back together.

Motor:
Freshly rebuilt motor, including new rod kit.
YZ125A close ratio gearset.
Barrel ported by the 2-stroke Instituite, with all sots of wizardry performed. 0.25mm OS in VGC with new ring.
Modifed IT125 pipe.
32mm Mikuni round-slide.
CDIgnition from a YZ125E.
Very easy to use, strong power.

Frame stuff:
Frame stripeed to bare metal, excess mounts etc removed, and resprayed
RM125 seat (needs mounts made).
YZ125A alloy tank.
YZ125A airbox (needs tabs welded to frame).
YZ125E footpegs.
Good levers, grips handle bars, etc.
Good original off-white front guard (tank painted to match), white universal aftermarket rear guard.
MX125A side panels - Grey (not silver) LHS one in good condition, yellow RHS one poor (sun damaged).
Near new VMX Plastics front number plate.

Wheels/Suspension.
34mm YZ125C forks & alloy triples (yes, these are legit pre-75 carry-overs - uppers are the same as YZ250B, lowers are the same as MX250A).
No rear shocks (I was going to buy some Works Performance before losing interest).
1K7 front hub with alloy rim. Near new Michelin S12 tyre.
1G8 rear hub with alloy rim (same as YZ/MX125A but takes flat sprocket). Near new Dunlop K990 3.50 rear tyre (great size for a Pre-75 125, but now basically impossible to get in brand name tyres).

From the 07 Nationals...

Excellent chrome.

Spares:
452-prefix 125 barrel (and head?).
446 DT175 barrels and heads.
New genuine piston kits in a couple of different sizes.
Engine cases.
Original Triple clamps.
Original DT125AA fuel tank in good original burgundy/brown paint (filler cap slightly pushed in, but a good tank overall).
Swingarm.
Front and rear brake plates.
YZ-C rear hub (takes original style dished sprocket) with damaged thread holes.
Footpegs and footpeg brackets.
Standard DT pipe.
Two or three new alloy rear sprockets.
A number of front sprockets.
Some NOS YZ125A gears.
DT 5-speed gearbox and clutch.
Original YZ front guard.
New genuine rear spoke kit.
322 front hub in VGC.

Also a YZ125A hub in decent condition that I forgot about:

New bits.

Needs sorting, but you get the idea.

$1000

In Yass, southern NSW (near Canberra).

No interest at all? Handles better than a CR, better suspension than a CR, WAAAY easier to ride, and cheap.
Good Pre-75 race bike for $1k and a solid weekend in the shed is too much?

Will hit eBay soon.
