Can I pull out lever and reinstall to check bearing without pulling motor apart.

If the bike has been sitting for a while your clutch plates have stuck together ,usually free up after a ride .

I was thinking of pulling the motor apart and checking everything it might be easier so I can check bearings.
I just don't want to pull it out and not be able to put back where it came from without major work.

Reece, This motor is over 30 years old. It was originally designed to last one year. FFS pull it apart and replace every thing that is out of tolerance. If you do it properly ( by yourself or others ) you will have a motor second to none in its class.

The racing season is all but over for this year. Take your time and debut it in 6 months time when the new season kicks off.

There are plenty of guys on here that will assist with motor works.  Learn how to post photos for said guys to look at. Get a workshop manual relevant to your bike. Study the Yamaha parts catalogue ( online, its free ) relevant to your bike. It shows every part and what order it goes together.

Find a mechanic that will let you pull the motor down and then explain to you what is wrong with it and also explain how it goes back together by watching him. Take notes of what he says. You will not learn everything overnight but you will build up your motor skills quickly. Buy your parts from this guy ( not cheap arse supposed bargains from China ) This is your best option in my opinion.

Or if money is no option take it to a mechanic and say fix the fukn thing, I'm off to the pub.
