1978 KE175 fuel tank
« on: September 11, 2013, 08:59:45 pm »

Hi

l always wanted one of these and now, 35 years later, l have one.

lm going to restore it starting with the tank as l dont think l can do anything to it myself.

Can anyone recommend a tank restorer ? As its such a visual part of the bike and l'll never sell the bike, l want it to look 100% original.

There is some rust in the tank but l dont think its too bad (not that l would know  ;D ) what do you think ?

Thanks

Geoff

GMC is a legend when it comes to working with metal (but don't tell him I said so.....)
Not sure if this is his thing or not, though?
Can't say I've ever seen a KE that early before. Nice one!  ;D

Yes this old Kiwi ^^^^^^ can't ride through a paddock without hitting something big but he can do wonders with fuel tanks .. you should see the one he did for Lochie Fox's CZ250 ..... drool-worthy tank if ever there was one.

I'm no tree hugger either John .. if the greenies saw what I did to those trees they'd be after me for sure ... at least they halted my progress down the hill.

And note the new avatar  ;D

Had a chuckle when I saw that the other day. Not enough Drop Bear references getting around these days.

Thanks but I only do alloy tanks, not really interested in touching steel tanks.
I don't do paint either but I do have a nice set of Derwents if you want me to touch it up ;D
