RM 400 Rodkits

Hi guys,

My 78 RM 400 broke its conrod - taking with it the brand new small end and piston naturally!.  Replacement rod kits (either NOS or aftermarket) are extremely difficult to come buy and pricey.

A few of us in South Africa have sourced a company which is willing to make up a supply but in order to make it feasible there must be a decent amount of interest. Likely sell price is between 150 and 170 Euros.

Anbody in Aus or NZ keen to to take a couple?

78 RM400C has the same rod as a RM370.....like you say....hard to find and expensive...$300 to $500 just for a rod....when you can find one.

Is the 78 model brand a desirable mount.
Cut off for pre 78s are a major killer over here in OZ...
Big difference between Evo and 78s, except for the Maico frankenbikes.

i didnt relaise that the 370 and 400 rods were the same! Learn something everyday!

Because of the way the classes are structured in South Africa, a 78 or 79 bike is quite desirable, fitting in, as it does, in the late part of the 75-79 group.

I'm pretty sure there is a person selling rods on the net  for Kx and Rm 400 ...... see if I can find it again.

I contacted Richie at Trimacmaching. They make rods for RM 400 N&Ts

The part No for the RM 370 rod is 12161-41200. The RM 400C rod is same as 370 A&B.

Does anyone know the difference and can the 400 N&T rod be used.

saw some one advertising Seadoo rod for PE400

Bazza  ....   Rm 400 and Pe 400 rods are not the same. And yes the Sea doo 650  1997 Rod  is the go with a few extra thrust washers each side  on a Pe 400

What I am asking, is the RM 370 A&B and RM 400 C rods the same and then are the N & T rods the same. Trimac-machining make a rod for the RM400 N&T.

I have found one on eBay but I have become a bit suss about it.
