Rockley Vinduro
« on: May 25, 2008, 06:22:28 pm »
N.S.Ws first ever Vinduro went off like a rocket this weekend. Held at Rockley near Bathurst the event attracted over fifty entries who thoroughly enjoyed themselves on the well laid out,  vintage sympathetic course. The laid back atmosphere and friendly vibe was the perfect recipe for a shitload of onbike fun. Using the poker run format, organisers Rob Shoemark and Darren Ribbons in conjunction with the Manly Waringah Motorcycle Club, found the perfect formula for non competitive vintage involvement. It didn't matter how fast or slow you were or how fast your bike was. The smiles on everybodys face at the end of the day indicated that these kind of events perfectly fill the void between the Classic Dirt style format and all out competition. Whatever you do, don't miss the next Vinduro wherever it may be, I guarantee you'll have a ball!

Thanks Firko, thats also great motivation to get my act together and put together a workable trail/enduro bike so I can come and join in the fun  ;).

It was good relaxed riding fun thats for sure. 5 laps to draw 5 cards for a poker hand  Sat & Sun., and then you could do as many laps as you liked after that. Tested a few different bikes, Bul Frontera 250, Bully Montadero 360, Yam TT500 and no matter what type terrain you prefer the course had it - open around the grasstrack, a few little hills, and a fair bit of round the tight trees work in first/second gear. Prizes given out at the end for the card hands were a great too.

Macca, the only bike you couldn't test ride was Push Me- Pull Me, wouldn't start >:( it is a Bultaco after all.

As a result of nobody having a good time on the week-end at Rockley we thought we might , just might try again.  :o :o :o

I heard on the grapevine that there may be another ride in late September , early October.

Stay tuned you never know your lucky in the lucky country.

Oh , and we are considering banning Bultaco's as those guy's look like they have way tooooo much fun.

Regards

Shoey

Congrats Shooey, Ribbo et all for running what very much sounds like it was a great event.  I am just sorry I couldn't make it out there - will try harder next time! ;)

A few more piccys from Rockley.

The place was thick with Bultacos.

Not a race, but sometimes the pace was pretty hectic.

These blokes kept us entertained all weekend.

And finally, a shot of a quality Canadian beauty taking in the rural atmosphere (while waiting for a refuel !)

Cheers,

Nitram   :) :)

Nah.  Not a Rokon, and no rope-start.  But in the ugliness stakes, Can-Am Qualifiers and Rokons are neck-and-neck !

Just kidding !!  The orange Can-Ams do look a bit boxy, but........ it sort of grows on you.

Nitram :) :)

Geez that looks like fun. I was all set to go, borrowed a bike from GregACT etc, but after CD5 and then a week in Qld I couldn't sell it at home. Glad to hear there might be another this year, I'd try really hard to make that. Might even try to get the IT175 I bought at CD5 up and running for that! More photos if anyone has them, especially those beeyootiful blue Bullies.
