G'day everyone,  I am having a problem with the cota . When I go to start the bike I flood the carby with the tickler ,it starts easily and runs for awhile { about 5 minutes ] and then stops . It seems as though it only runs untill the carby bowl is empty. Any ideas as to what could be wrong.p

Have you removed the float bowl to see if it is empty?

After checking the float bowl, check to make sure the tank vent is not clogged. Should be able to blow air thru it.

Does it rev it's guts out before it stops? How much smoke?

Ignition condenser? once it gets a little warm it stops then cools down and restarts. Common if the condenser is still located under the flywheel and has been sitting for years.

Thanks for your answers . I hurt my leg riding my pursang so kick starting is out for awhile . It did blow smoke . It could be the condenser ; I will have a look at it when I'm feeling better.p

If it's running out of fuel it will rev up hard before it stops.
If it just dies - Check the plug (oiled up) and for spark straight after it stops -  condenser usually play up when they get hot - a holden Gemini one can be used.
Has it been sitting unused for a long time?

You could not mount a condensor in a worst spot! Extreme heat and vibration will make them fail in no time. Disable the stock unit on the backing plate. Purchase any good automotive condensor with a ground wire. Mount the new unit under the tank or in the open (I use a small hose clamp on the frame backbone) run the ground wire to the coil mounting bolt. Splice the condensor's main wire into the hot wire coming out of the coil. Thats it, no more burned points!

Will do.Still waiting for the bone to knit in my leg.However I think it could be electrical because when I spin the back wheel in gear there doesn't seem to be any spark.p

I remember kicking my MK7 over at Tivioli in 74 it kicked back leaving a big hole in my leathers and me behind my knee ,6 stichers fixed it.
