You can fit a normal light unit from Autobahn etc and run a regular halogen lamp. It won't have the 3 lugs for bolting it in place but you can silicone it in place quite successfully. Alternatively you can cut the back out of the reflector from your smashed lamp so it is just a ring with the lugs. Carefully break out all the glass then use the ring to hold in your aftermarket light unit. I have done both successfully and you would never know from a casual glance at the bike. Can send photos if you want. You see lamps or entire headlight assemblies on eBay from time to time also if you want to stay strictly original.

Cheers

This is my '83 headlight  assy .

I used UFO  105 mm (plastic lens ) unit   to suit my    '83 ( D.C repl)   headlight housing .
'84 & up  Husky   use different housing to '83  & have  LARGER   light ..,.so be sure what housing you have ....  &  be sure to measure  first.

I had to make up 3 small mount tabs to secure lens assy   using the  3 screws , (as seen in pic)  ,
to housing ( as per original look )

UFO   Part No    ME 08076 ;   (105mm dia lens)

Got it from this place  ;   (look in electrical  / ignition section)

( NOS    glass h/ lights still can be found....... but you will pay plenty more for one.)

 Hope this helps
    Regards ,
                        Steve
