Not a great deal of difference between '77 & 78 or '79/'80/'81/'82 but '77 & '79 are quite different. I have '81 CR frame & an '82 WR rolling chassis. Same frame fits all engine capacities.

K what are the main differences between the 77 ML frame and the 79 MM?

'79 onwards is easy to spot as they are the first model to have the airbox in the centre of the frame as against hanging on the LH side, steering geometry is different as well. There was a 390 with a red tank listed as a '77 on ebay recently but it was clearly a '79 or '80 model. Hope someone didn't buy it to race pre'78.

ML frame has the loose ball head race bearings like a bloody push bike! My 78 390AMX does but I think some CR's went to tapered roller in 78. Autos always got the hand me down bits from what I can tell!
