TM 250 J Frame.

For Sale:
I've got this TM250 J frame, rust free forks, front wheel with rusty spokes, decent seat with a small tear, RM 125 side panels, ridgy didge RH250 back mudguard and cut down Preston Petty Tony D off Steve Galls OW on the front. I'll throw in a pair of handlebars to make it steerable.......The motor and rear wheel are being used in the flat tracker and the Curnutt shocks are destined for my DT1 desert sled.  The first punter with $200 gets it but the money's going back into the flat track bike and the bike is going to a good cause, a mate who's had a few financial woes who could do with a break. I've no idea, I found two frames in a skip bin circa 1990 and this is one of them. I only know it's a J because somebody told me it was. One of the Suzuki guru's will have to answer your question.
    below: This is how the bike looked when it was first built out of my accumulated shit,junkyard castoffs and donated bits for a tad over $100. The Pacifico tank is now on my TM400 and you know what's happening to the rest.

i have a 73 TM 250 motor for that frame  !

interested in the best if no one is, id like to clear out my TM stuff and shoving it on a bike would be great.

How different are the motors Freaky? My engine is a '76 TS bottom end with TM top end and it almost fits in the Fasttrack short tracker frame I got off Jimmy. The engine mounts line up but there's a small section of the crankcase casting at the rear that prevents the Champion style engine mount cradle from lining up the bottom hole. I can grind either or both the cases and the cradle to fit but I'm curious as to what the differences are....they all look the same to me.
                                                                         
When the bottom bolt in the cradle is fitted it will push the motor forward enough to line up the front mount.

Only differences in the motor are outer cases, clutch actuator and I think the exhaust port is on a slightly different angle .

Firko your 76 TS bottom end is identical to 74  TM 250 except the ignition and the numbers  .

Are the gear ratio's the same too Bill?

Cases are different in this case Bill      76 Ts  are similar to 75 Tm  which had more of a open transfer at the bottom of barrel insert area, unlike the swept back style 73 74 models.
76 cases are the ideal donor for RH  250 barrels

According to my TS /TM factory manuals Firko gear ratios are the same for TS / TM .

Stew i didnt know about the transfers  you learn somthing every day

Here is a comparison I did on the TS250 1976 gear box against the TM250 box
After a lot of actual research I can confirm the following.

TS250 76 Counter shaft is the old version for TM (72)because it only has 12 teeth
1st driven gear same as 74 (29 teeth) not 75 (27 teeth)
2nd drive gear same as 74 (15 teeth)not 75(16 teeth)
2nd driven gear same as 74 (27 teeth)not 75(25 teeth)
4th drive gear same as 74 (21 teeth)not 75 (20 teeth)
5th drive gear same as 74 (23 teeth)not 75 (22 teeth)
Drive shaft is slightly different
Thrust washers are different may be because of the slightly different drive shaft
remove the neutral switch and swap washers accordingly
Primary gear on the clutch is different ?
And remove the taco drive from the oil pump

So, much closer to the TM250 74 internal however with the old style counter shaft.
