Brad Lackey Replica
« on: June 26, 2013, 08:52:30 am »
this had not moved at all at $10,000 USD - but now is $16,000USD!!!!!!

1984 RM500E--Brad Lackey Championship REPLICA -This was an excellent condition and low mileage 500E that we started with and then went 'berserk' on. This is a one-of-a-kind bike that can no longer be duplicated (due to engine internals--see below). NOS Ohlins rear shock, NOS DG pipe/silencer, ultra rare and expensive Simons UDX-60 inverted forks (rebuilt), NOS Twin-Air single-sided airbox looks brand new. Faithful replica of a full factory works Suzuki motor with polished/billet: rod, crank, works replica porting, clutch basket, titanium clutch plate bolts, all new 'ceramic coated' bearings in motor just like NASCAR race engines now use. In fact, Brad actually saw this engine dismantled and commented on how he had 'wished' that his full factory-works motors from 1982 had been as trick as this one is now! Brand new top-end too (1st over using NOS OEM Suzuki parts only). Professional tank coating/graphics/clear treatment renders tank totally impervious to fuel. I accidently left pre-mix in this tank for over a year after starting it, and there was absolutely NO bubbling/discoloration or ANYTHING that came through coatings. I really does look like a painted aluminum works tank, and it is a true work of art just by itself. Brand new Michelin tires/tubes. All new Magura controls. '84's were already pretty close replicas of Brad's works '82 bike straight from the factory, and then we built it to the full max. Newly rebuilt/powdercoated/polished/replated/ everything;  nothing was left undone.  A 'Custom Works' resto. Perfect, beautiful, none finer. Bike was started after completion and run through gears (to acknoledge proper operations), and then parked with near zero miles on restoration.  $16,000.00

Nice bike, built by a really good man (Todd B) but Mike is clearly not in need of the money.

It's a nice bike but it's still only a nicely modified 500 RM. You can't ask works bike prices for home built hot rods, no matter how good they are and how much heart went into their construction. I'd reckon it to be an 8-10k bike.

Does anyone at all buy his bikes at those prices?? I've seen some of his stuff for sale over years and he still has is listed, most of them now with prices higher than originally asked :-\ Do folks here know "Arizona Mike" and/or what the thinking behind putting such massive prices on his bikes is?? Not slagging off, just honestly wondering what the strategy behind the seemingly enormous price tags is?

Sale begins July 1st, 2013 and will end when ALL BIKES ARE GONE, or until I decide to end it. One month, one year; I haven't decided yet. When they're gone they're gone---I will not be replacing any bikes.

Arizona Mike is a continuing source of joy to me with his Factory Works bike claims and outlandishly bullshit descriptions of almost every bike he sells. He has an inside source on every Wheelsmith Works Maico that was ever made too. Spend a lazy half an hour reading his bike descriptions, especially his Maico section.....they're a hoot.  I wouldn't buy a spark plug from him.

I love the description below which is worded to make you think that this is Jeff Wards ride from 1977. Methinks...Nah!!!

1977 RM125B --FMF--Package Racer REAL- Extremely cool bike with all of the original, vintage FMF pieces, and original (not reproduction) stickers from the day. Sponsored rider in '78 Jeff Ward ported cylinder (possibly by Emler himself), FMF porcupine head, Thor aluminum swingarm, vintage Works Performance shocks, mint condition FMF cone pipe, vintage Fox aluminum silencer, extra padded real FMF high seat, FMF brake backing plates, FMF modified forks, etc.  Just like the DG YZ125D and '76 DG CR125 I also have for sale, this bike has not been 'put together' from a bunch of vintage parts. It's the real deal that has had a minor cosmetic, and full mechanical restoration back to all it's original glory. This is FMF's version with some true factory pieces. A must for any 125MX collection. $15,000.00 Ebay# 171046364022

So Dave, or Mike  :-\ I guess at 50% of those prices some bikes end up looking not too bad of a prospect. Good luck with the sale.

From memory the DD one is the real deal, they were trying to fix a ignition problem on it so Brad could ride it.

I may be wrong but I've got a feeling the Diamond Dons bike might be a replica too...I can't see a works bike having Billet Innovations handlebar clamps and be so poorly prepared.

Yes indeed the DD bike is a modified 1983 RM 500D (production bike) with some Simons forks.
Thats not a RN82, men.
