atom electronic ignition
« on: May 12, 2008, 11:29:14 pm »
Does anybody have any of these little gizmos laying around that they'd care to part with or would they know where I could find one or two? They were produced here in Australia back in the late 60s for chainsaw and lawnmower use and to take the place of points on old school ignitions.

victa 2 stroke mower ignition modules will work and increase the spark compered to old points and condenser and early model coils fit bsa bantams of all engine sizes, you can even use the victa coil with points or pointless on pointed bikes

Firko they are still about new. Try an older mower shop ;) I think it is the same Aussie company that makes Atom lawn edgers and post hole borers, as at field days. Cheers Tim

I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

hello firko, the atom modules are no longer available unless you find some N.O.Stock.
I work at a small engine shop and we used to use them on the older points stuff.

I'll check the mower shop where I got my last few from tomorrow.

I've run these and the good part is a massive increase in bottom torque (on a TT500) but it will find any fault with your coil and cause a spark breakdown.

My bikes would not rev as well with the ATOM and the kickback was brutal to say the least, the motor even ran backwards!

I think I have a spare unit here, you're welcome to it if I can find it.

Sorry Firko the mower shop have no ATOM units left.

The one for motorcycles was pink with other colours for other applications. I spoke to a guy a few years back who said he tried all the variations and got better result with a different one from what was specified. He couldn't remember which one tho.

I've should have one here, let me know if you want it and I'll look on the weekend.
