1980 KLX 450

Running in this weekend,Yamaha TT 250 engine bored and stroked to 420cc, with a 40mm kx 500 carb,and methanol for garnish.
Gosh its a shame a slow 4 stroke trail bike can go so Fast !!

I love it, if you were just a casual observer you wouldn't notice the engine swap....the mark of a well thought out hot rod special. ;)

No problem with the carb, methanol is easier to set up than petrol,had to drill threw the frame to run the throtle cable,  the headake was the kick starter,had to weld 2x knuckles together to get it past the frame.
The cradel of the frame is all original, the head stay had to be repositioned,and a plate welded in for the lower mount and a gusset removed below the air box.

Agreed. Sure looks nice, tho the rear guard looks at a bit of a strange angle

 Back in the day they reckoned you needed 20lbs of air pressure to help the weedy springs. You can cut the springs down a bit before it gets coil bound but it's still a tad soft
