Mick, I don't want an X4 replica, I'm thinking I need a replica WeBeHa frame, I reckon me and my trusty saw and Oxy set might be able to cut and shut something close ;).

I didn't say X4 replica Firko, I said 1964 X3.

Given there is only the one WaBeHa 360 frame to copy off in the world and its not here in Oz, I thought a 1964 X3 360 Racer would have been a more realistic and do-able dream.

I meant X3 Mick, my fingers got in the way ;D. I was just thinking aloud, my Metisse will be a more satisfying project for me. I'm too old for all that cutting and welding anyway.

That makes more sense.
And I doubt you are too old to use your prime skill, the one you were actually educated and trained for.
If you can still fabricate and weld as well as you can write(talk), you would be laughing.

You could then trim a dime-a-dozen center-port squarie cylinder to finish your Metise as a political correct replica as Marcus has shown.

Then using your rare 1964 360 alloy oval top end where is was actually manufactured to be used for, just thinking out loud.

I might yet be having a spare 1964 X3 twin-cradle frame soon anyhow. If I do? you will have first refusal, my word.

Excellent, danke Marcus.

What is the outside diameter of the alloy fork sliders at this point?

The diameter is 42mm. What are your plans, are you searching for one ??

Danke Marcus, my plan is to finish and race a 1964 X3 MC360.

To finish it, I need a pair of these alloy lower sliders

I also need a tank, any tank that looks OK, capacity doesn't matter.

I also need a seat or just a seat base, but if I have to, I will manufacture one to suit.

Ok, maybe i can get sliders for you.
Maico has taken the sliders of their scooter (Maicoletta) and bored them up from 35 to 36mm.

For the rest you can take the squarebarrel fork. Just have to shorten the dumper rods and make a backingplate...
Or you take a fork with 35mm tubes (KX80 maybe or else) .. ;)

Now that wouldn't be kosher would it? ::). I reckon it'd last about 10 minutes before being spotted by the scrutineering anoraks. I'd rather leave the stock frame based Maico pre 65 and pre 60 stuff to you and Rodger while I build the Metisse because it morphs three of my loves, pre 65, Rickman Metisse and of course, Maico into one package. My pukka restoration efforts will go into the little Maico KR250 dirt tracker.

Yeah I got pretty exicited and geed up again since Marcus came to town.
Even bought a new welder.
But on hold again now.
I near died from massive blood loss last night.
Made it to hospital in time for a top up and bleeding inhibitors.
Stable now. Just waiting to see if I am getting another zipper now.
Ironically my Daughter is here bringing a new baby into our world 8)

They all start looking pretty good once you get on a bit!  ;D
Good to hear you're going to be ok, mate.
Still a bugger of a thing to go through, though.
Take it easy.
