Hello- I like TS 185 ER's...
« on: April 29, 2013, 12:13:57 pm »
Hello,

My names Daniel and I think I might be a Suzuki TS 185 ER addict...

I have 4 of them so far, and looking at a couple more at the moment. My goal is to have 5 restored and registered in the Blue, Red, Yellow, Black and White colours.

Can anyone tell me some history or stories about the TS 185 ER's?

Can anyone point me towards other TS 185 ER collectors?

Anyway cheers-

Daniel

I had an er185 when i was 14, after my ts100. Purchased them both with money from the paper run and selling illegal bungers at school which were unavailable in Sydney.

G'day Daniel and welcome to the forum. I too have a soft spot for all the early Suzuki's.
It's funny but at HBBB this year one of my favourites was a guy giving all the dirt track bikes a hard time on a TS185. Don't know who it was but we all wondered whether it was the young bloke from a couple of years ago doing the same on a postie bike ;D

Regards Stan.

I have a soft spot for the TS/ER I had a ER 185 that I flogged to and from work for years had it been a horse I would have been a arrested and that little bike just kept on going. I would hold it WFO on the open road and flat change gears etc and it just started first or second kick every time every day for years.
Current bikes. KTM MC 250 77 Husky CR 360 77, Husky 82 420 Auto Bitsa XR 200 project. Dont need a pickle just need to ride my motorcickle

Nothing wrong with those little work horses. You should come along to a vinduro some time Daniel.

ive got the last of the piston port 185's,the A model which I opened up the intake port to 32mm and raised the exhaust port as well since it spends most of the time sliding around my farm.saved it and its bigger bro a 250A from going into land fill, all top fun and you cant kill them.the wrecker here has a lot of spares if you need them ;)

Hi Daniel, thanks for your PM mate!

Fang-in pre-85 two smokers around in the mud and the dust and the road certainly qualifies you, welcome ;D

I don't think too many or hardly any spoilt enough here to cut there teeth on a motor-cross track. Reality would be more like bush bashing on a learner friendly first.

Yeap, some would say I am ER fugged-up in the head. In reality though, I promised my Bro that I would set his son up on a bike. I tryed him with an RM first and that didn't end to well ::). Er hey. I cant think of a better thing for all-round novice throttle fun, parts availability, ease of service, ease of learn to ride and service a two smoke first, ease and affordability of very cheaprego, great brakes and all of my family can reach the ground on them ;D

Busy at the moment,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but I would love to find time to come back to your thread embarrass myself with my ER developmental dreamings :D

This is my current stable looking very dirty and neglected (i have a couple other awaiting delivery).

This is what i want my stable to look like! (sorry if ive included your bike in this picture!)

Furthermore:

-does anyone know if they ever made a Green TS185ER?

-does anyone know how to identify the different ER types (ERN/ERT/ERX) ?

Cheers for the warm welcome everyone :)

compliance plate dates or engine/frame numbers would be the easiest way to workout which model you have
