Looks great are the pipe dimensions the same as the original? The Monty's seem very sensitive to pipe design

Spec is slightly different, hope to have a ride report back in a couple of weeks.
I also moved the chamber foward a bit more allowing for a bit longer muffler.

Great job Geoff.
Looks like my old Monty i restored then stupidly sold on.
I bought an AW440 that i cannot start and near broke my foot when it kicked back.
Hope the current owner removes my race number some time soon.
Those Monty's really are nice looking.

Yes FD, these Monty's are really nice looking bikes and this one seemed a prime example.
Dangerous Dave was jealous as he had one in 78.

Davey, if I had gone down the path of being a Barrister I would probably have ended up working for the destitute.
Should really have been a Barista, that's where the real money is.

Thats the trick to advertising Canam, first you suck people in with some bullshit, then you go the hard sell.
Just stop your grumbling and open a can of VB, sit back and admire a bike you don't have.

Monynut as far as i know the forks have not been touched from original.

John I purchased the gaurds from southwest Montesa.

I beleive the standard gaurds are white.

The standard guards were opaque, where very tough plastic and didn’t ‘explode’. The bike in the picture has, what looks like, the very good Maerer replicas. The front guard was ridiculously small as it was a left over from Pre75 type wheel travel bikes and was useless as far as stopping mud. Back in 1976/77 I changed the front guard from new to a Preston Petty but the original rear guard stayed on it for the two seasons I raced it. I certainly tested that rear guard a few times ;D. The originals do go brittle relatively quickly however. I have a couple of originals and they are like glass if you flex them but then most 33 yo plastics if in the sun would be the same ;)

That makes sense as no one seems to be able to replicate it
