Hey guys, sorry I won't be at Rockley but you just had to put it on my kids 21st! However, following the success of our first vintage enduro at Castella, Victoria last year; another event has been added to the calendar in Victoria for 2008.
On 27th July at Campbelltown; a dot on the Vicroads country directory map 59, A5 – south west of Castlemaine; will host our first event for the season. The aim of these events is to simply bring to light and use old dirt bikes that aren’t catered for in Vintage motocross, in a non-competitive event. The Black Duck Vinduro is for pre ’70, ’75, ’80 and ’85 trail and enduro motorcycles and will be run on private property so there is no need for bike registration. However, a well-muffled exhaust is mandatory as are head and taillights(…even if they don’t work). While the above classes have been listed there is no strict eligibility scrutineering and you can ride with your friends on the same minute (3 per minute) if you enter together. The course will consist of a 30-minute flowing loop through bush with rocky to loamy soil and is 16.7 ks long. All gears will be used with fast and slow sections and the bush is open enough to let faster riders to pass without trouble. Built into the $55 entry fee is an MA recreation permit but if riders have a full MA licence it costs $15 less. This is not a race as once riders have been started in their minute order they can choose to start their subsequent laps at any time they wish. Have a cup of tea, a chat, tighten that chain, etc. Riders will be simply marked in and out of the loops so we know where you are and keep a tab on how many laps you’ve done. Riders will have to wear all the usual protective gear but period riding gear is encouraged.
Camping at the venue on Saturday night is encouraged (accommodation is scarce and we are promoting a feel-good vibe) with a meal available at 5pm from Bronies Culinary Delights for $12 and then off to the local Black Duck pub for drinks, lies and videos. Entrants and friends will be welcomed back to the venue with a roaring campfire, more tall tales and hopefully some sleep.
Sunday, breakfast is at 7.30, riders briefing at 8.30 am, the first riders away at 9. Do as many laps as you feel like and prize giving will be at 3pm. We have been magnificently supported in the past by Rider’s Edge, BTX, Stackers and others. All in all, a fun day is guaranteed. Entry forms are available online at eatmydirt.com.au, classicscramble.org.au and ma.org.au (by next week, we're a bit slow getting the official stuff up) I know it's a fair trip for you northeners but this is the closest to free love on a motorcycle I've felt in a long time!
