First one is Merrylands annual observed trial at Deadmans Creek,'60s.We all took turns on the old Acme fitted with a BIG rear sprocket.
That's 'A' grade road racer Bill Dillow closely followed on foot by Keith Jones watching for 'dabs'. Next is Jonesy being marked by Arthur Hobson and watched by Jeff Wilkinson.
cheers

Hey Pancho, would that Jonsey be the Bob Jones that was caretaker at Nepean for many years?

I'm afraid Jonesy beat you in the bargain department, found it dead on the side of the road and bought a condenser for 7/6d and bingo  a goer!.
7/6 = Seven shillings and six pence to you fellers that didn't have to try and add, multiply, and subtract  the currency of those  days.

(This was the economy model, only 98cc.)
      cheers pancho.

Was going to put this in the subject[what was it] the art of being cool i think, i was reading yesterday. Decided it's definitely an un-cool pic [of me] so best here in black n white section for a laugh. Check out the front road tyre. Looks like wanganui labour weekend on the monday 1/4 mile grass [sort of a 1/4 mile grass] was rough with a right hander up a small step then hard left back down & into the long left curve main straight [bent straight]. Had a super fast grass TT saturday in a 'big' paddock with a tough scramble sunday & this 1/4 mile on monday. That was labour weekend covered for us for many years. Looking at the pic reminded me that my bike suddenly developed a very bad rattle in the top end at the TT so pulled the head off [in the camping ground] that evening after people[them that know--or thought they did] sad 'she's history mate', found [of all things] that the inlet guide had broken off the bit that sticks down into the port which was bouncing up n down & sounding like all hell was about to break loose up top. Easy fix [remove offending bit] & never missed a beat for sunday/monday. Memories.

road tyre on the front [tough times], bought it the week before from someone in town & pretty much just took the rear guard off at the hinge & muffler off & looks pretty much it--leaving lots of room for 'development'!! haha.
