g'day caps. i can only comment on yz ones. they're ok i guess but still nothing like original ones. they fitted fine but needed a bit of jiggling around with the holes for the mounting bolts (ie. the holes aint in the centre of the little rebates they go in). finish is sort of a matt finish that gets dirty real easy. my bike is no garage queen and gets ridden so they worked out fine for me, but if i was trying to create a masterpiece for the bar, i'd be wanting something a little better. my mate has used dc's on his elsinore though and they look real good. got mine through les at mainly maicos and was more than happy with his service.

I have, and this is what you should expect....

1, They will NEVER match OEM quality
2, You will have to drill mount holes/damper holes where needed
3, They will NOT be glossy and super smooth (they are injection molded not vacuum formed)
4, They will have a fine "Orange-peel" look to them
5, Colour will be close but not perfect
6, If you want to stick something to them clean with alcohol FIRST (mold release chemical residue is always there)
7, Be happy someone is at least trying to make replacement plastics, if there was n D plastics there wold be NO PLASTICS for some bikes

If you're building an old Yamaha, then VMXPlastics are the winner by a country mile. You won't find a single person who's bought any of their gear who has a bad thing to say about them - they really are as good as genuine.

The range is limited ATM, but the longer term plan is to reproduce ALL of the VMX Yamaha plastics.

I'm currently fitting used plastics to my bikes, and waiting until I can get the good repro stuff from VMXP.... My bikes are no show ponies, but I can't see the point in spending money on stuff that I'm not happy with, when I know that the good stuff will be available, given time.

Nathan is right about VMXplastics they will be on everybodys wish list when there in full production the quality is second to none.  jimson

I have purchased a few of thier items.  I had two of the first generation Tony D Replica fenders, in red and they were horrible.  The color was way off, the finish was matte and they were thick (almost brittle).  I just threw them in the trash last week, because I wouldn't even give them away to someone. 

Recently I purchase a set of fenders for my 1975 Yamaha MX100.  DC Plastics was the only source I could find for these fenders.  The quality is way better and since it is hard to screw up white I'm very pleased.  I'm  sure it takes awhile to get the process to work correctly. You do have to give them kudos for being the only supplier for certain bikes!  I plan to buy some KTM items from them.

DC's are fine for race bikes, not so much for show bikes.

I USE MAIER PLASTICS ON MY SUZUKIS,HEAPS BETTER FINISH THAN DC.

A few years ago I got DC plastics for a PE and their colour was way off. I have heard that they had improved.
I just received two RM80B rear fenders from DC. Well made, seem like perfect repro's - but sadly, their colour is still WAY wrong.

So - a waste of money.

I cannot use them as I have NOS plastics for everything else and these things look HIDEOUS.
How hard can it be for these people to get the colours right?

Sorry to hear that Luke. For what it's worth I'll buy them both if you like may not be right for the 80B I have now but I have other 80cc projects I maybe able to use them on as they won't be full on resto's

Luke, get a painter to eye match it to the genuine plastics....I dont know where you are but any painter worth his salt should be able to do it...if you dont know anyone pm me.

Hey caps999,
It depends what bike you have as to what choice there is! Also it comes down to if you want a show bike or race bike. As for my YZ250C, the DC Plastics are the only manufacturer for this model. I agree with Cyclegod's reply.
