So......Is it 100% correct to assume that for my entries in the forthcoming Classic Motocross Nats and Classic Dirt Track Nats that -
1: I don't need to fit a rear wheel chain guard?.........My concerns being that I'd have to ruin the nickel plating on my expensive classic frames.
2: I don't need to fit handlebar cross brace pads? My concerns that as I run Jones titanium handlebars with V cross braces making it difficult to neatly fit a pad.

It's ironic that this arises today as I turned my Cheney and flat tracker upside down during the week to make it easier to weld the brackets needed to mount the chain guard today. I was extremely pissed that I'd have to wreck the nickel plating on the swingarm but had gone to some expense to buy special paint that "replicates" nickel plating but it's still not the same.

Yeah it's amazing that last year it says every bike must have chain guards and now in this years MOM's they do a back flip.  Not only that if you had only read the rules for CMX, nowhere did it state you needed a rear chain guard in last years MOM's.  All those guys who have been busy making chain guards and destroying paint jobs on swing arms are going to be P***ed.

and it looks amateurish and like some sort of afterthought. Surprisingly, some of us take a bit of pride in our bikes appearance. If I don't need it, I'm not putting it on.

I made up ones for my bikes , I see it as a safety thing not a hassle might save your fingers or someone elses one day.
better to be safe than sorry in my book.
I cant work out how they change the rules from one year to the next.
