ATK 406 on Swapmeet
« on: February 24, 2013, 02:09:16 PM »
If you're like me and like to have bikes that are a bit different to the norm, this is for you. Rotax motor, C&J frame, WP suspension. These are really good bikes despite their obscurity.

This series of ATK's where out there. Disc on the counter shaft, parallel chain rollers, brake pedal reversed. Outside the square thinking stuff that worked but was considered too out there. And it was out there. I liked every part of it!

ATK 504 or was it 604 really pushed the envelope in the design department. Single side frames later on got me!

I'd have this one in a minute!

Certainly a thing of beauty in my eyes too.
Looks to be a really nice shape.
I understand the backwards brake pedal when the rotor is on the countershaft, but my Cagiva has the same setup and the rotor is on the back wheel.  ???

Ironically I've owned two of these beauties but have never landed them back here. The first I bought over there to keep at a mates place so I'd have a bike to ride when I visited but then the visits became less and less so I reluctantly sold it. The second was bought to import off the Swapmeet for $1100 but before I could ship it an American mate told me he had a buyer for twice my buying price....naturally it was sold as well. Despite being a tad quirky, they're really good bikes.
