In the four stroke revolution of the 70’s there was the Hallman / Lundin Aberg Yamaha 500
Then along came the Hallman kits for Suzuki and Honda.
The Hallman Suzuki kit for the SP 370 and DR 400 looked like this…
MX action did a story on one… (same one going by the race No)
I was then lent a genuine frame some time back ( Thanks to a Forum member ) and after a few false starts and other distractions I now have the first replica kit ready for assembly.
It’s a ‘carbon copy’ of the original except I have added different footpeg mounts as the original spline system is not only awkward to produce they are also awkward to set up a decent peg on.
The bare frame weighs in at 8.8 Kg
A bit more chain clearance has been added to allow for modern X ring chains that are wider than normal chains.
The original frame was set up to suit the Yamaha YZ 125 seat.
I have set the jig up for this seat but I can also set up to suit other seats if desired.
This frame was set up for the RM 250 C seat.
Information on these frames is scarce as I don’t believe they made very many of them so if you know of any other frames in existence or any other articles or history on them I would be keen to hear about it.
Now to get onto the swingarm and airbox…
A forum member on here is making some stroker cranks to take the DR 400 out to 499
