I would recomend the rex's speed shop cdi's they are good quality and look almost like the original.
I got the pulserless cdi for my dt360a.

This could be a alternative to the jaycar cdi.

Time for an update on the project....... :P

Some replacement parts received, including a kick starter from USA



The seat and tank should be ready 1-2 weeks.......

I have decided to update electrics and have ordered a PVL ignition system from USA......$530 delivered....should arrive within 3 weeks.....

I pulled the barrel off today..........UUGGHH !!! :P

Reed valves will need some work...... :-\

Ouch, not too pretty in there ::). I love PVL ignition and have it on three or four bikes but reckon you'd have been happier with a heavier flywheel ignition on the 500. I'm using DT400 CDI with a Rex's Speed Shop black box on my 360 which will be used for dirt track. Time will tell and at least your bike will start easier ;).

Thats the  first over size piston 0.25    2nd 0.5   3rd 7.5  4th 1mm

uggggh thats one ugly crank.. maybe you should have gone with plan A, makes the other boxed up motor look like a sweet heart.

Get all of that surface rust off with some wd40 and 1000 grade wire wool. It won't look so bad then. Looks like she's had a guts full of water.

That's the way Mark, Jim's CZ had the same problem, gut full of water, rusty flywheels etc and its going well now.
