ty 175 oil

G'day,can anyone tell me if I can run my yamaha TY 175 on premix?p

I run my 250 on premix & most do so I'm picking the 175 is no different, pretty sure the pump only feeds into the intake like the 250 does

Thanks for the reply Tony.I am giving the bike to a mate and he says if he could run it on premix he wouldn't forget to put oil in it.p

Running on pre-mix is what most people do who use the bike for trials even back in the day. You need to remove the pump and install a blanking plate, some people just  remove the oil tank and leave the pump but this causes problems later when the pump runs dry and fails. Tony27 is correct the pump just injects into the intake like the 250.

Back long ago we all agreed that a yamaha was easy to put on premix and a suzuki a wisker harder as most of them fed the mains as well. the yam remove the pump and blank off then remove the oil lines and seal and blank off seen plenty of siezed or holed pistons from people removeing thing and not sealing corectly and them sucking a bit of air later on and woops.the suzis needed a bit more work to remove them in a lot of cases we would leave the pumpin place and set at a small opening and then premix belray 40:1and keep a bit of oil running through the tank. but to remove the pump was the go as the horse power increase was huge
