I've got a 400cc reed barrel packed away in the garage somewhere. When I restored my RM400 I was lucky enough to locate a NOS barrel and piston and put the engine back to standard and packed the reed barrel away. Before I found the NOS barrel I remember doing the sums on the capacity of this weird barell as I was considering using it again and it came out to 460 (ish) CC. Never found where it came from.

Bahnzy is it a full reed valve barrel you have and not the std case reed barrel? Is it maybe a RM465 barrel?
The 79/80 works twin shock Suzukis had an engine similar to a RM465.

Its appears to be a standard barrel that has a (unknown) full reed system with the standard Suzuki reed block removed. It certainly wasn't cast that way, it was modded (very professionally) to have the reed. To the untrained eye it would like a cast part till you look inside and see the machine work and the welding. I'll get a photo down and post it up.

Both of the above RMs are as exotic as all get out, cool things. Another trick RM is Dean Burts ride. Next time you're at the races give it a once over, it's mods are very subtle but extremely effective.

Yep, have to agree, VERY tidy bike and he's a well mannered young bloke too & he still rides the wheels off them, shit, i never thought i'd ever refer to someone Dean's age as a young bloke, bugger, i must be getting "old"!!!

I couldn't agree more, Burty's a nice bloke and he seems to be getting faster the older he gets (not that he's that old ). I thought that motor looked a little lumpy in your photo Johnny O, it's indeed a very trick bit of  kit. Would this be the last of the twinshock RN/RH works bikes?

Were you at Amaroo the day Grunt demolished the opposition on that bike?

JohnnyO can you explain please where Goofs RM500 fits into these boxes of goodies or was Goofs bike just a good worked quality production RM500 for 83 ?
