Is "Bassani" too obvious?

Not Bassani Nathan they were never that angular plus it  is too far out from the rear sub frame . EDC I doubt it they were nice and tucked in to the frame as well .

Also its too low over the kick starter . I'd say its from something other than a yamaha and been bodgied to fit .

can't tuck into the frame because they put a brace right where the pipe needs to go when they layed the shocks forward

I'm with Iain, I think it may be one of the Aussie made pipes that popped up everywhere in the early 70's. I forget most of the brands but Denco was one, Trail and Track loved 'em, called 'em Power Pipes whether they made power or not ;D. I've got something similar (but not identical) hidden away somewhere in the garden shed.

The header section of that pipe looks very much like the standard Yammie
pipe to me. I'll suggest it's a home made special.
Looks orright to me...

What stops it being a Bassani that's either from a different bike, or compromised by the lay-down shock mod?

As best as I can see, the heat shield and general construction are very similar to the way Bassani made their pipes - maybe it is a "Bassani copy", but how do you pick it as not the real thing?

the pipe on this bike was an after market built in Vic it was a copy of the bassani though  check out the thickness of the mufler , Ive had a couple of them and the tail section was a lot thinner .

I'd say EDC mated to std Yam header. Looks like it has no centre-section (parallel-sided) which was one of the distinctive features of the EDC.

Has the same overall shape & construction as EDC too, but original EDC header was very diff, as per pipe on #10X (that whole pipe looks to me like EDC, but w slightly shorter heat shield).

But rear mount bracket has been relocated to attach to original top shock mount instead of that hole a few inches further back

I reckon you're right on the moolah John. I was looking for a photo of an Eltham Dirt Centre power pipe before I made comment. All I'm sure of is that it's not a Bassani. Did John Burrows have something to do with EDC? If not it may be another pipe that he made/marketed.
