Anyone have any idea what it costs to ship a bike from the USA ?
Any companies you know of that specialise in USA to AUS ?

contact Shoreline motorcycles, he is on this board, or google them and conaact, have not used but a few on here have and recon he is ok.  Also, friend just used ddr to ship back 4 bikes, good service also, ddr is in qld as is shoreline, google either for contact details.

There are a large number of shippers specialising in bringing bikes in from the USA Adam. I use John Fleming here in Sydney, there's none better or cheaper. However seeing that you're in Tassie, it's probably better that you use a Melbourne based firm to save as much as possible on internal shipping once the bike arrives here. There are a number of shippers in Melbourne including Darren Cheney who is a member of this forum and will possibly get in touch with you via PM.

 Some handy hints are:             
           1: Unless the bike is so rare you'll never find another, try and buy your bike from states west of the Rocky Mountains to save a motza on USA internal shipping. Check your map before bidding.
           2: Although it's not imperative, try and ensure the bike has a title of ownership. There are ways around it but it makes the deal much easier if it has title.
           3: Check to see what the bike you're looking for goes for here and if any are available. The market is currently pretty flooded with imported bikes so you may find it cheaper to buy someone elses import.

I went with Darren at first motorcycle and didn't regret at all - attentive, keeps you informed, send video of the pick up and door to door from east coast US to canberra. Excellent service.

I imported mine last year via Darren Cheney, couldn't have been easier, didn't need a title just a bill of sale.  Cost about $1k landed, all inclusive.

Be careful how you ship it, even these so called professionals screw up, there only after all using the same mexican packers who do stupid things! And certain fork up packing and they don't control that as much as they say they do, there not there physically loading em.

Like Unpacking crated bikes so they fit etc,  i am still awaiting 5 backing plates,  a seat and a few other things they lost in transit. 

 And that was a year ago......   ::)

]jimg1au, the 1k is from port to port, you still have to get it to LA.  To move it within US I have used uship without any drama, just use someone with plenty of feed back www.uship.com/  Last time Firko recommended someone to transport some parts to LA

There are companies like Ship My Bike and Schumacher Cargo and there are some that ship from different ports within the US

California changed the rules for exporting bikes a couple of months ago.

Up till now, you've been able to ship bikes from California with just a 'Bill of Sale' (as long as the correct paperwork has been done), but 2 or 3 months ago they made a 'Title' mandatory.

Of course, California will now supply you with a Title...  As long as you pay another US$300 or so..

This doesn't apply to boxes of parts though - so shipping a dismantled bike has now become a possible cheaper option.
