New KSI Kit bike!
« on: January 09, 2013, 12:54:27 pm »
Well, many of you are bothered by the 2 bikes that Miles Ledgerwood and Dick Tett in England built within the last 2 years.  Basically an updated twin-shock Knobby Shop International replica.  Well Miles just sent me the information that he is going to build full on replicas of their race bikes in kit form.  Everything is supplied but the engine, front forks (your choice) and wheels.
The price will force you to sell some of your retirement stocks or take out a second mortgage on the shed you call a home!  But the workmanship has been shown to be outstanding and they have been racing Miles' bike for the last year and a half to make sure the bugs are worked out!

Anyone interested?

After testing the complete bike through out this season, we are now taking orders.  Delivery is dependent on two or three suppliers subject to their workload and ability to meet our deadlines.   Some production tooling is now being finalised and delivery of early orders will be dependent on these being finished.

Our intension is to meet customer orders within twelve to sixteen weeks of receiving the deposit.
If there is a delay owing to unforeseen circumstances the customer will be notified at the earliest time and project end date visited.  This is a very labour intensive project and every effort will be made to deliver on time.

With regard to the rear shocks we have costed them into the kit as it is essential to maintain the correct overall length and rod movement.  Please bear in mind that the kit has been priced in a competitive manner to give a discounted price.  If the parts of the kit were sold as separate items the total cost would be greater.  If any part of the kit is excluded by the customer the individual parts pricing will take place and the cost will rise as previously mentioned.

A deposit of fifty percent with written order will be required to commence production of kit.  Cost of carriage and freight to be agreed and finalised with customer

If there are any additions or comments you wish to discuss we will be pleased consider them.

While im sure the workmanship is first class and it is a point of difference it is IMHO ferkin ugly

While the Poms let them race in their twin shock races i think you would no show of racing that in Australian vintage events  ??? what class does it fit in  ??? Modern but with an old motor ?

Now if you want somthing trick but evo legal

Is that Geoff Ballard it the background ?

I think it's an awesome bike and it should slot into the Evo class. It's twin shock, non linkage air cooled and drum braked and has a period correct engine. Just make sure it has Evo legal forks and wheels. The only thing modern about it is the seat..

I love it. Sure it's a mix of eras and the Trumpy wouldn't be half as fast as the original 490 but so fuc*ing what? It's one blokes view of cool and I respect him for doing it..and doing it extremely well. It slots straight into our Evo as it stands except for that non compliant swingarm and triple clamps.

As much as I appreciate the work/effort/shitloads of time and money thats gone into the KSI, it falls into know where land for me....by the time you add forks, wheels/hubs/brakes, chain/sprockets, engine etc you are looking at a 20K bike here....Tanners 74RN400 just sold for 20K.....I know what i'd rather have.....this bike to me is just another expensive "HL Replicka"......one of Firko's Deus Ex Machina SR 400 look at me I'm a latte drinker.....I'm sure its the bee's knee's on the track but it's not in my bucket/wish list......sorry if I have come about as harsh but the only bike from that era that tickiles my fancy are the Kelvin Franks bikes....they just look right and GMC should be making them.....hurry up Geoff.

Joan the buy price will be over $AU20k with shipping and fees  ::) so its likley to be closer to 30K when built  FFS

Still might do it for some but you could several mint proper vintage bikes for 30K  ;)

Still take nothing away from the craftsmanship its just a pity its wasted on a nothing bike .

I have always liked the bike and the reasons for building it... but I am not sure that the world needs more of them [especially at that price - wow!!!].

Surely it would be better to do some replicas of the original KSI Honda. Much more appeal for this little black duck.

Morning all, kinda loving the way this bike creates strong opinion - whether you love or hate is entirely ok with me - and way better than disinterest, or splinters from sitting on the fence. ;D

We are funny creatures, visual images dominate our brains. The thing that deceives, to a quite uncanny degree, is the only modern truly component -the seat.

Weirdly, almost no one dislikes the look when they see a pic of it racing. Even TM Bill has posted that it looks cool :o. Maybe the rider hides the seat, or maybe it just looks better covered in sh1 t.

It's off season up top here, so Miles is busy in the cold dark man cave, tinkering with a fancy new exhaust design for next season - seems to be part megaphone, part flugelhorn as far as I can tell. Will post a pic if he ever puts the magic brazing wand down long enough.

One day, we might knock up one with the airbag rocker arm suspension that Allen Greenwod designed. The drawings still exist....
