Laurie Alderton....legend.
« on: January 05, 2013, 11:20:35 am »
While digging through my photos I found this great shot of Laurie Alderton at Moorebank aboard the mighty Montesa 360GP, circa 1970. The wonderful thing is that Aldo's still racing and is still fast.

Last time I was at his workshop he still had the Monty 8) not sure if it was that exact bike but certainly one of his early bikes he said.

No idea why, but that's the kinda photo that I could look at all day!  ;D

Anywhere someone might be able to get a hi-res version or a print?  ;)

I'm with you Tony, B&W photo's grab my attention and seem to set the scene totally.
Laurie's a true Dirtbike legend and I've often wondered how his brother Dennis is going?
Dennis had a lot to do with coaching several of our leading Speedway riders from the late 60's to early 80's.
Tragically Dennis's son Brett lost his life in the UK during the 80's and understandably Dennis drifted away.
I really hope he's going okay.

Scrivo Laurie's still got his 71 'Grey Ghost' Cappra MX 250. The above photo is of Laurie on his '69 360GP 'Clockwork Orange' model.
Below: Lauries brother Dennis rode an identical Ryans sponsored 360GP Monty.
