Why is a RT1 pre70

my RT 1 is 1971 , the first one , but is it pre 70 to race in.

Yes the RT is classed as a follow on model so pre 70 is the go . Iain

The basic idea is that while they weren't available in 1969, all of the technology is pre-70 (and significantly outclassed for pre-75) so they belong in pre-70.

I think it's a good call - they boost the numbers in the pre-75 263cc+ class, without damaging the spirit of the era. If anyone ever managed/manages to win the class on an RT1, then they bloody well deserve it!

And your rt1 needs to be piston port as well....

The first black tank/yellow pinstripe RT1 was released in May 1970.

Lucien the guys posting above plus a couple of others on here are  the DT/RT gurus between them there is a mine of info for you to tap into if your going to race a pre 70 Yamaha .  ;D
