I'm reading on facebook that he has passed away. No details though.
You can't trust everything you read (most) but..

This would have to be in the top three iconic mx photos of all time. Number 1 in my book.

  R.I.P  Georges Jobe,  has been fighting cancer for the last 12 mths , another legend lost to that bastard disease !!!

George had been battling cancer for quite some time . If the news is true thats very very sad , an absolute legend from the glory days of the sport with 5 world titles. Would have been more but for injuries and politics .

The victim of a form of leukemia, Georges Jobe was one of the greatest motocross racer that Belgium ever produced – and it produce DeCoster, Robert, Malherbe, Everts and Geboers. Jobe’s five world titles put him behind only Stefan Everts (10) and Joel Robert (6) on the win list. In 1980 Georges Jobe became the youngest World Champion in history when he won the 250 World title.
 
After retiring from professional motocross George kept on racing and in 2007 suffered a terrible accident in Dubai while training young riders. He was in rehab for many years and even fought skin cancer in 2010. Sadly, in 2012 Georges learned that he was suffering from myelodysplasia, a form of leukemia. Georges Jobe would have been 52 January 6.

Godspeed Georges. A true 'hard man' of motocross.

As a Suzuki devotee I followed his career from the start and will always call myself a fan. A sad day for the sport and his family...

Manjimup Des Nations Western Australia 1992. Australia place sixth at this event.Riders where Jason Marshall 500,Dale Britton 250 and Kim Ashkenazi 125.Top ten finishes to tally 36 points, one ahead of Holland. Aust MC Heritage J Scaysbrook/N Shennen

What a shame, and he was only 52. I must say that he was one of my top five favourite riders of all time......and Yeah Brad, that certainly is an iconic photo.

Sad Sad Day, I was lucky enough to be around and watch the #63 in 89/90 in the 500 GP's.

 George was always approachable, Humble and the crowds always loved him.

I text Leisky with the news and he replied that was Crazy and Saddened and had caught up with him at the Farleigh VMX in 2000.

Another Good Man and MX Legend moves up to the Race in the Clouds .

It always catches me by surprise when a top rider ends up in a wheel chair or passes, I tend to think of them as gods that will continue to dominate forever.

Although Manjimup was Georges last motocross on the internation circuit it hardly got a mention since most of the hooohaa was about JMB retiring.
RIP Georges a true champion who was passionate about motocross to the end.
