Not VMX- Registering a private import bike in Vic???

Hi, I'm looking at buying a bike that has been privately imported into Vic in 1995 but never registered. So I guess the main points to note are

1- the bike is still owned by the individual who imported the bike
2- The private import was done correctly and the owner has import approval docs from when imported
3- the bike is a 94mdl and has a km speedo and orange indicators, basically it presents as exactly the same bike that would of been sold by any aus dealer at the time.

Sooooo, can anyone tell me what sort of process and $$'s I'd be looking to get this bike on the road?? Taking into account that the bike is most definatly in road worthy condition as it sits.

Any insight would be most appreciated. Cheers, Brendan  :)

So far as I know the bike will still have to have compliance done on it if its manufactured post 1988. If the bike was registered in the current owners name when it was imported and then re-registered here so it has a local reg history you might be OK....as far as I know.
There are a lot of other items which need to be checked regards ADR. Which market was the bike originally intended for?

Bike was imported to be registered but never actually registered, not due any complications at the time just never happened. Bike was sold new in Mexico, has km speedo.
