Hi ,I am after some measurments on the sliders, if someone could grab a tape measure when they have time.
 I am after the below measurements. ( I looked up on the net but couldnt find the info )

top of seat to ground. (may vary on height of rider may be ? )

top of seat to right foot peg.

ground clearnce.

wheel base.
       
I know some bikes may vary in sizes just doing some maths....  thanks

Interesting question Mick and I look forward to seeing what dimensions come back.
I've got an Elstar BSA from the late 60's that is pretty easy to get at, I'll measure it up tomorrow.

Godden/Jawa specs,....seat height=30''       ground clearance=4 1/2''
wheelbase=54 1/2''-55 1/2'' with 19'' rear wheel
rh footpeg height is what ever suits,....about 1 1/2'' to 2'' off ground.
 Seat height on a Godden was generally a bit higher than a Hagon due to the sub frame.    cheers   Mark

Mick, some time ago I helped Matt Saggus do some measurements for his Hagon Jawa, try a pm or email to him, he may still have them. Failing that, I will run the tape over me Sandracer for you.

Here ya go , Mick, hot off the tape measure.
Hagon Sandracer MK 2

Wheelbase 55" ( wheel right back )
Seat height 28"
Seat to RH footpeg 25"
Ground clearance, TT 500 engine from ground to exh pipe 5", low rh pipe

Seat height is a very personal thing and may vary from rider to rider as is RH footpeg/seat distance.
measurement in inches 'cos it's a pommy bike !!

All the jawa frames are the same, except the junior frames that they cut down.  Other than that everything you ask can be  adjusted by the rider, by changing things so its an open question to a degree

Thanks to all for your fast tape measureing. and feed back  foss, mark ,and freaky.

I am keen to have a go at this sliding thing, I have watched and I am getting the twitch
I was keen to know the measurements because the above bikes were made to suit this brave sport.
I have a spare TT500 ,sadly I dont have a old classic slider ,

I was thinking of making it close to the above measurements .
I relise its never going to be as good as the real thing ,
I just throught the seat height and RH peg measurement would make cornering better,with your right leg a bit more streched out to control the slide
The RH and LH peg I will have to watch out its not to low for ground clearance because of RH and LH corners on some tracks.

Mick,   The rh footpeg swings up out of the way . The Lh is not an issue as it is pretty high.

Don't worry too much about home brewing your own slider frame, Mick, a shitload of Hagon/ Elstar/ Godden copies were home built in Australia in the '60s and '70s, and most of them were as good as the originals.
The Bully slider that Freaky has was built in Aus from measurements obtained from the UK.

Don Stafford built Elstar copies called Alstars and they were better, IMHO, than the originals, taper roller steering head bearings etc.

I preferred the Elstar frame from the Hagon , for a few reasons, one was the main frame tube finished at the bottom of the rear engine plates , ie the swing arm spindle passed through the frame itself instead of finishing at the top of the rear plates a'la Hagon Sandracer plus the fork sliders were the same diameter all the way through the top fork bridge instead of reducing to a 3/8th or so loooong stud.

I built my first slider frame, around a 350 Ariel motor and gearbox, in 1970 Bro Jim , jimg1au on the forum, still has it

i have some spare rear swing arms for the 19" wheel i also have an ex peter cosling long track frame which woudl take your motor be it as sprung or put in a jawa rear loop for a speedway ride.

I have got the wheel base the same as the jawa etc bikes, its 1410mm
I have got the seat height the same as the above bikes 30inch , I am useing the standard seat so have allowed for extra seat spounge sag.
I was going to use the XR750 style seat set up but it will shorteten the gap between the top of the seat to peg measurement,
then I would have to raise the bike up to get the peg measurement lower.( ground clearence probs )
  ( I throught my own that is, it would run better with the weight lower to the ground like the sliders is this the case )


I have de raked two bikes in the pass but dont have them now , I dont want to de rake this frame because its a matching number bike.

The rake on this frame is a later model rake 28 and half it is close to 27 and half now because I have slid the forks right up, I am going to use the early TT500 in line forks not leading forks.
The pegs i will make will be a tad higher than the true sliders ones .and made to fold up .
