Kerry past away early hours of Tuesday morning 13th. after a long slow losing battle with Parkinsons.
With only 11 months age difference (me the older) we spent a lot of our early life in fisticuffs as is often the case with siblings.
Kerry's competitive attitude was evident from early age in anything he took on. We both wanted to race cars like Pop did but I got involved with bikes soon after he started riding an old ridgid MAC Velo then showed some class in his first and only race ride on a bike at Vineyards track. He picked up a few places that day on a borrowed Beeza.
His motor cycle career finish weeks later with a horror head on with an FJ cab. The old skull gard helmet didn't do much.
He later went to Tasmania where he built a horrible looking Ford sports car based on old Customline parts an became Tassies most popular driver at Baskerville longford, Simmons Plains etc.
The Tasmanian Motorist did an interview calling him 'Tassies hariest driver'
The thing had hopless brakes and he slowed it down by throwing it sideways into corners. "something I learnt from dirt bikes. he said
He went on to win the Tasmanian Sports Car championships at the last Longford meeting in a Jaguar special that he built.
After a couple of years away from racing He moved up to Queensland and bought a Bathurst XU1 and won The Ford Series with the Torana much to the annoyance of the current Ford star driver of the time.
Kerry leaves his wife Sue and sons Tony ( world champion marshal arts, and highly competitive drift racer in Japan,) Peter, well known drift racer, and competitive drift racer, and builder of drift racing cars. David
