rm500 forks and rm465 rear hub & other questions!
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:26:33 pm »

Hi Gents,

couple quick questions, RM500D front fork lowers have a plastic sleeve on the bottom, is this able to be removed and what do the tubes look like underneath?

2nd, looking for a good standard rear 465 wheel hub for a spare, anyone have one they want to part with?

3rd spherical bearings for shock, bell crank etc, are they generally available from bearing service shops? My local bearing supplier says o.e. only......

Cheers,
Kt.

Lower plastic sleeves come off.Sometimes easy other times need a little bit of perswasion! Only really there as a lower leg protector coz you can lean those 500's over so low ;D Forks should still have the original paint.
Spherical bearings are a Suzuki only part. But I have heard that you can get one with a smaller OD and sleeve them. Check with Suzuki 311 on the forum,he's done it and would be a cheaper way to go!

Thanks for the update men. THANKS Jason, i actually picked up the phone to ring YOU but got side tracked by someone ringing ME wanting to sell ANOTHER RM500!

I'll let you know how i go, i have some contacts with bearings, he found me some for a CB900 starter motor (his company make the original equip. stuff) bearings when everyone said o.e. only i will try them for the bellcrank stuff directly.

cheers,
Kt

Let me guess, the LHS of your swing arm pivot is either oblong, cracked or both? X,Z,D and E models were bad for that - Bad Suzuki!!
