I don't think this was my biggest crash but it's one I can still re-live after nearly 30 years.
It was at Tivoli, a C grade race in my first season and I was on an RM 125 B.

There was a fast straight ending with a jump, immediately followed by a right hand berm.
I tried to jump past the bloke in front of me but it went wrong when I landed.
He continued around the berm - but I went staight ahead through the plastic tape and into a teenage female spectator.
She was standing between two teenage boys and all three were looking to their right; did not see me coming!
and I just centre punched her - maybe flat out in third.
As I got to my feet I can still picture the two boys looking down in amazement at where the f*ck did she go?

Ambo came over and she lay there groaning for quite some time - I think she was taken away for observation.
I felt really bad for her, but back then spectators weren't chased away from the centre of the track.
"Whadaya mean it's too loud?! It's a f*ckin' race bike!! That pipe makes it go louder - and look faster!!"

I'm still trying to recover from mine at Tamborine last year , serves me right for trying to race soemone in practice... tried to sneak past a rider on the left of him at 4th gear full noise on the 465 and his bike siezed, all I remember is a puff of white smoke out his exhaust and he veered left into me as I was hauling past, I clipped him and punched into the ground, broken shoulder 3 broken ribs and internal bleeding with colapsed left lung. My shoulder has not healed and I still have big pain after the operation to put plates n screws in it and the op was in Sept last year. I raced at Nudgee and realised that my track speed has at least halved, its like being a beginner all over again, ... :'(
'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting,  ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! ' '

Been pretty lucky really and have never really had any 'bad' crashes.  A few front end loses and a couple of highsides are the worst, broke my collar bone once when I was 14  but it wasn't what I'd call a bad crash, more an awkward landing.

I recent years its my Husky highside. Gentle ride down at river ended badly .
Fractured my neck, dislocated my shoulder and elbow, broke my collor bone in two places, brusing to hips and lower back. I have being plated, pinned, screwed and crafted. Still not right even now. Its been 8 months. ??? The off also revealed a medical condition I was unware of, discovered while having treatment.

The most painful part was not being tossed off the Husky but rather having to drive myself home on a very long, bumpy dirt road trying not show how much pain I was in as I had 15 year old daughter with me.

I am most greatful she was not on the bike with me as I was heading back to ute to pick her up for a double. Thank my lucky stars it happened before and not after she got on the bike.

CD-5 will be my first real ride, Few laps up the lane and spin in back yard is all I have done since, I honestly do not know how I will react or even if I will be able to ride for any more then 5 or 10 mins.

Hope you can ride at CD5 Quicky, and most of all enjoy it pain free. that's some serious injuries you had.

my biggest crash was on a roadie back in '84 or something.  i was on the way to parramatta to pick up my new ride, a GS1000.  i was doubling a mate who was going to buy and ride home my existing ride, a z750.  a car crossed the road is was tooling down as didn't see me (we didn't ride with headlights on in those days did we), result i rode straight into the side of him at 60k or so.  me and me mate both went over the top cleanly enough and did our gymnastic-perfected forward rolls to end up on our feet, latte in hand.  no, not really, we just rag-dolled down the road a while.  first thing that came to me was 'you bastard - i was half hour away from selling this bike and gettin' faster model!'.  so i did what anyone would have done and took off my helmet and threw it full force at his car, totalling his windscreen the result.  then went over to the poor family guy sitting like stunned mullet in car, wife beside him, and proceeded to abuse the f&%$ out of him for totalling me bike.

eventually i realised i couldn't stand up cause my leg was broke, and proceeded to faint from pain.  came to in the ambulance, and still first thought was 'he bust me bike!!!'

there's no fixing some people....

ps, his insurance tried to put the bite on me for his windscreen but my solicitor just said 'can you blame him?', and they coughed for it themselves.  fair's fair.  i never got me big GS.
pps, mate was ok, just nasty gravel rashes.  and no z for him.

Hey Magoo I was skinny to!!! :D :D yeah Hoony know about that one had the Police interview me (re my crash for the coroner looking into the PI crash) and they wanted to call me as a witness as my crash happened 18 months before the one at Phillip Island. We had the links for a long time and spoke to Honda re the problem (all to no avail) and despensed of they about a month before the PI accident. The problem (as I seen it been a metal fabricator) was they are punched out of plate and with all punching you get a sharp edge side that can have under cracking in it. after this happened we started to linish them (under proddy rules this was not allowed) and never had the problem again.

I think we did this back on the old forum (I wonder what happened to those young Turks - did they go away and f'd themselves like everyone wished).

I'm not gunna relive the horror of my crashes and besides, they pale to insignificant against these experts  ;D.
