I know he is a youngster... but this is impressive
« on: October 22, 2012, 11:08:21 am »
Hey Guys,
I know this is a vintage motocross forum, but check out this image of Ryan Dungey changing gear mid-air over the big jump at the Monster Energy Cup.

Dungey had a coming together with with a Tuff-Block early in the race and bent his shift lever... but instead of giving up he managed to complete the race and finish 3rd while changing gear with his hand... sometimes midair...

Now that is what I call determination [and he doesn't even sport a tatoo or piercing  :D], almost as good as Carla chugging a beer at Namur!!!

Soon these fellows will have enough time in the air to change a fowl spark plug.

Watched the last race & saw the previous 2 races highlights first thing today, they pointed out that he was changing gear by hand in the air.
That shows a lot more guts than most would display

Actually it was both the 1st & 2nd moto that he bent shift levers and had to shift by hand. He got hit by someone in one moto and he hit a tuff block in the other moto, got a 2nd and 3rd in those moto's.

unlucky to bend a brake lever in one race, let alone two!!!!    shows the level of determination some of these guys have, lots of others would have just quit.  KTM RandD now developing unbendable shift lever!! :P :P

No, his lap times were faster so all the brands are coming out with '5 on the floor' hand gear shift models in 2013. :o

Now that's a RACER! I'm impressed.
