Shock length

Hi have taken my shock out to
Get fixed mono had to compress it to get it out.Went a custom to be made to same spec for $$$$ I don't have to compess it to fit must mean it's to short what do you think

maybe also " The shock I took out had to be compressed to get it off the bike. I had a custom shock made that cost a lot of $$$ and it fitted straight in without having to be compressed. Does anyone think that something might be wrong with the custom shock?"

If its an 84 KX500 you don't have to compress the shock to get it in or out. Sounds more like there is something wrong with the std shock.
