MONTADERO--BANDIDO
« on: October 11, 2012, 10:02:02 pm »
WANTED. a 17mm mainshaft/output shaft to drive the counter shaft sprocket,if you get my drift.Been restoring a mk2 350 Montadero all this year, frame blasted, new paint etc,and I have had the motor running but unable to select past 2nd gear.

Decided to split the cases and found amongst all the gunk in there the countershaft has a slight twist which means the gear on the shaft can't fully slide home.I measured a 350 Sherpa shaft which is 22mm,so no wonder the smaller one twisted.

From my research these primary gear drive Bully engines are unique to Montadero's and Bandido's so parts are rare as.Checked ebay and will start the search to morrow in OZ.
Q.Would it be possible to have the shaft heated and the twist removed(-1mm) then heat treated to case harden etc.Cheers.
Bultaco Metralla, Matador MK 5, Montadero mk2, El Bandido model 18,plus lots of bits and two Honda XR's 250,350.

I think I've got an almost complete Montadero motor somewhere. Can have a look if you're interested,
Pete.
