Arr Colac  deep bogging ,power sapping sands. ...and that was just the car parking area ! the track was way deeper ..............
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Yep. Aussie Titles 1983.  :)

Acusa Park S.A.

Funny story... I wandered into the infield trying to look important with my shitty Russian camera held together with duct tape. Then a bloke on a 4 wheeler started doing the rounds, kicking out anyone who wasn't supposed to be there. (Like me.....)
So I walked straight towards him and he waved, went around me, and left me alone.  ;D  ;D ;D

Thanks for putting these up Tony.
Nice clear shots to.

This was the era when I was full on into dirtbikes and started racing with a YZ80J and YZ100 in Juniors.

Really regret not going to that ACUSA Pk Aussie title event, I wasnt even aware it was on at the time.

Yeah I agree Hilly, the YZ250J was a cool looking bike.
These bikes were good talking points, as Yamaha did to much in one year with Gizmo's/tech and styling, not leaving enough time to refine it enough.

Similar story I think, was the Honda CR450RB?

Were you in SA back then, GT?
I've got some pics of a few minibike events as well.
Gotta work tomorrow, but I'll see if I can dig them out too, next week.

There doesnt seem to be any pics on the Net for this period.

Yes, I was a member of a club called "Munno Para" out near Elizabeth. The Family used take me all over the state that year.
Even went down south to a track in Mount Burr, in the middle of a Pine forest.

I was only an average rider, but geez those kids were quick.
Some fast riders that come to mind were Andy Hayden, Damien Best, Robby Mogul, Kym Jagger, Kier Doe, Stephen Baggs, Kym Ryan and a smart arse kid on an Italjet - Gavin Hutton.

Great times.

First 3 Photos of Colac Track was Kettle Park at Barrongarook, we race there back in the 60`s and 70`s, I helped to map that track out, it was very fast track, main straight was very long, Top Gear.
The Track wasn`t Boggy Sand like Rye Reserve, Rye Reserve, was a pick of a track to maintain, Kettle Park had very good top soil, nature water springs in the bottom corner before the main straight, off camber down the back of the track. Great Track, I just loved Kettle Park, The track it still there not being used.

I wasnt there for that event, but I sure heard about it from other members, being such a massive gathering of bikes/riders.
Unfortunately, Munno Para is now history.
