DT360A V MX360A
« on: April 12, 2008, 06:10:33 pm »
hi
which is the better frame to use dt360a or mx360a.i need to build a 251-500 pre75 dirttrack bike as mansw are making sure all sliders run together 125,250,360 and 2 valve 500.a little strange i think as if you are representing pre75 dirttrack racing my slider from pre75 was raced with the mx bikes i have trophy to prove.the problem is i have 3 sliders and you can only ride 1 in only 1 class.i have a dt360a frame and 2 mx360motors,pipe and yz rear wheel.so any parts would be good as well
cheers
jim

Jim, i've got the DT360 and the MX250a, side by side the frame rails are indentical with the DT having all the extra brackets for road going gear, although i have not measured the steering head angle so i can't comment on that. swing arm length is the same, so no probs there.
thats about all the help i'm good for,
cheers

ifi  SIT on the dt 250 then go and sit on the Mx 250 or 360 the Dt seems  lower and more level across the top sections,  MAybe its the seat position but the bike feels lower, if that is infact the case use the DT frame it must have a lower cg,

Then again they are most liley the same and the Dt i have here is a bucket of puss with flogged shocks and a coon seat.  :P

With the exception of all of the extra brackets and different bolt ons on the DT, the frames are identical.

Jim...I don't know where you are getting your information from but I can tell you straight up that you can run your 125, 250 and 360 sliders in their respective classes with the motocross "chook chasers" and it's never been any different. Whoever told you that bullshit ( " mansw are making sure all sliders run together 125,250,360 aand 2 valve slider") doesn't know what he's talking about. Rather than talking to the wankers at MANSW who know diddley squat about most things, why not just attend a few vintage meetings and see how things are actually run.

MX seats are taller, and a bit narrower than the DT bits. Stiffer foam too. Dunno how it relates to dirt track, but the MX seats are definitely better for motocross use (hardly surprising really....).
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

mark i sent you a email about where i got my info from.i have been attending st george club days at nepean,i still have 6 weeks befor i can think of getting on a bike from my injury aug 12 2007.rotor cuff tear that required major surgery.in the mean time i am slowly building 1973 cr250 and repainting ang maintance on my hagon tt500.i have 4 other sliders as well but before i spend money on them i want to see if i can ride them in other races that they make the year cut off .eg pre70 dirt track 350 ariel pre75 antig 360yamaha(i rode this bike with a bully motor in in the early 70s,pre 78 longtrack 4v jawa and evo 4v speedway springer jawa.
i am just preparing for the worst i have a dt360frame and 4 motors of various stages on condition

This is a detrimental move from Penrith club. I've sent you an email with my real thoughts on this Jim. MANSW and Penrith club are out of their collective minds if they are going to prevent sliders from racing with MX bikes. Official madness strikes again! My apologies for doubting your information Jim. I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

If possible I would like to know what this stupid proposal is  all about too. Private contact if you require . Tim
I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.

Tim.......Apparently MANSW and/or Penrith club are going to prevent sliders from racing in the same races as motocross bikes. I'm still hesitant to believe that such a stupid decision would be made but I wouldn't be surprised based on previous decisions by these people. There is nothing in the MOMS to say that such an arrangement has been decided so I'd like to see them prevent me from entering my Elstar Maico in the 250 class at a vintage dirt track event. Why do people fork with the sport when it's going along quite well?

HI
on sunday juinor long track champs were held and sliders did run with mx bikes but these are late model bikes up to 250cc only.no injuries no accidents so the meeting was run safley.may be it is just vintage sliders are being targeted.
cheers
jim

Jim I did get your email. I hope you don't mind me pasting it in here to help explain this weird decision. Somehow, I don't think this one's going to go away.

Hi mark

Just recived a confirming email stating Penrith mcc are banning sliders from racing with mx bikes sliders can only race in slider class.

So looks like a ban only at nepean. Unless Penrith mcc runs mnsw and ma

Cheers
