DKW/Sachs
« on: July 26, 2012, 07:00:25 pm »
Just scored a cute little DKW 125mx with a Sachs engine.
Questions
Where is the engine number?
How can you tell a "A" model engine from a "B" [ has an electronic motoplat fitted.]
How do you tell the year of manfu ?
Best place for engine parts , conrod/piston.
Cheers

Alan Breuhner in USA is the gentleman to get Sachs parts from. PM me if you can't locate from web. Reliable and has extensive range. There is also a gentleman at Tamborine Village who also has a vast knowledge in Sachs motor building. I'm about to list a 73Wassell 125 for sale, all original and a good goer. Also have 2 B type motors which are the enduro/trials base while A motors were mx. all at  very realistic prices

The early "A" series motors were in the first Penton bikes..wasn't just restrictred to enduro / trials..they were also 5 speed whilst the later "B" designation was 6 speed. tho both had ten neutrals.. also different size flywheels from a to b... try the Penton Owners Group on the www it has a section on the "message board" which has discussion and parts for sale / wanted..
