Harrow 2012 Photos and Video
« on: July 19, 2012, 11:57:09 am »
After spending the last few days realising the video potential of my cameras, I'm contemplating creating a video production of the Harrow Vinduro.
I'd have to invest in some new equipment and would have to spend the best part of a week on post production, so I was wondering if there might be some interest from you folks out there? Maybe at 20 bucks a pop?
Any feedback much appreciated.  :)

Do it.
Past experience with rally DVDs says that you'll sell a lot more a $10/pop than $20, but that's your choice.
If people know that they are featured, they're far more likely to buy it. ;)

If you can get footage from other people, it will make it more interesting.
The good thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said.

Good thought about getting footage from others like onboard stuff.
That said, at 10 bucks each, I'm not sure it would be worth the time and money I have to invest in it, though.  :-\ I only imagined selling a dozen or so.
We'll see how much interest there is........

10 bucks is fine for a disc with a bit of average footage.

20 bucks is cheap for professional style package which I imagine is what Tony is planning.
Having seen how he can make an interesting short movie from stills I would be more than happy to fork out twenty.

From my experience with photo’s its very easy to spend twice the time sorting images as compared to the time to take them.

Tony, not sure what your planning but it would be good to see stuff from the whole weekend, camp site, pub meal, MX,  Park Ferme start etc.
Sort of a mini documentary.

That's exactly what I had in mind, Geoff. Maybe chat to a few blokes, get some background on the town, but most importantly lots of shots of bikes and the riding!  ;D
Ideally, I'd like to have some voice-over as well, but my voice is crap so I'm sure about that one.

I had something similar in mind at the first Vinduro at Castella.
Filmed people coming in the gate, riders briefing, the start, some track footage and when I got bored with not many coming around I held the camera in my left hand while riding a DT100 and took some ‘race cam’ footage.
Although somewhat pathetic it didn’t turn out overly bad, just have to speed it up and tone down engine noise so no one can tell how slow I was riding.::)

Alas, my wife was editing it to trim out the crap and bring it down to a respectable length when the file froze on her. The file somehow ended up too big and now it can’t be opened to edit or transferred to another hard drive :'(

Excellent idea Tony. I would definitely purchase a copy; $20 sounds cheap for something like that. I'm sur eplenty of people would be keen.

Geoff, that's too bad about your footage. I'd love to see some pics or video from the first Vic vinduro.

Sounds great Tony - I would pay $20 without hesitation for something of professional quality rather than $10 for something someone has knocked up with a helmet cam.  I would like to see lots of different bikes (e.g. bike porn  ;)) and different riders, not just two or three people followed round the track.  A little bit of everyone.

I was hoping to come to Harrow and do my first Vinduro but unfortunately my PE250 1982 won't be ready in time.

I can't be there so I'm quite happy to lay down $20. Bargain! J
