Yamaha mx360 timing

Am having detonation problems with my 1974 mx360. What is the correct setting for the ignition ? I suspect the 2.5mm it was set at is causing the knock .

2.5 is what the Clymer book says the Yz 360 is 2.3  and mx 250 is 2.3   Iain

Thanks iain, I might give it a run at 2.3mm and see how it sounds.  Terry.
